간단한 픽셀아트 인트로(Simple Pixel art intro video)

안녕하세요 에이로린입니다.

 

이번 포스팅은 제가 친구의 부탁으로 제작(?)했던 유튜브 인트로 영상을 소개하려고 합니다.

이것 역시 저의 소소한 도전 중 하나였죠. 핳 친구도 이제 막 영상을 만들기 시작했고, 올린 영상들을 봐주며 다양한 피드백을 주던 때에, 인트로 영상이 조금 아쉽다는 이야기를 꺼냈고, 친구가 자신은 이렇게 저렇게 하고 싶은데 어떻게 할지 잘 모르겠다 라고 이야기해주어 머리를 지나간 아이디어가 생겨서, 내가 한번 도전해봐도 될까? 하고 양해를 구한 뒤, 시도해 보았습니다.ㅋㅋㅋ 막 엄청나게 복잡하고 멋진 것을 원했던 것이 아니었기 때문에 저도 저렇게 급 도전하겠다고 외칠 수 있었던 것 같아요ㅋㅋ

 

 

일단 친구가 원했던 인트로의 대략적인 이미지는, 자신을 닮은 픽셀 캐릭터가 왼쪽에서 오른쪽으로 걸어 나가는 그런 영상을 원했었습니다. 그래서 저는 이 부분에서, 스톱모션 기법(?)이 떠올라서 픽셀 캐릭터를 각 걷는 지점마다 놓고 사진을 여러 장 저장하여 영상으로 이어 붙여 보는 게 어떨까 하는 생각을 하게 되었습니다. 그다음 움직임을 조금 더 자연스럽게 하려면 캐릭터가 일자로 서있는 모습과 다리를 벌리고 잇는 모습 두 가지를 준비하면 되겠구나 하고 구상을 하였습니다.

 

하지만 여기서 문제, 저는 픽셀아트... 에 대해서 전혀 아는 것이 없기 때문에 어디서부터 시작할지가 막막했죠. 그래서 이래저래 인터넷을 찾아보던 중, 픽셀아트를 그려낼 수 있는 휴대폰 애플리케이션이 있다고 하길래 앱스토어로 바로 들어가서 찾아보기 시작했습니다 ㅋㅋㅋ 그렇게 해서 선택한 게 바로 이 아래의 PixelEditor 애플리케이션입니다.

이 애플리케이션을 열면 오른쪽 사진과 같이 칸칸이 나누어져 잇는 저 화면상태가 끝입니다. 그냥 저 상태에서 왼쪽 상단의 +나 -표식을 눌러서 칸의 개수를 늘려주거나 줄여줄 수 있고, 아래의 색상 조절 바에서 색상을 선택한 후, 그 색상이 들어가길 원하는 칸을 클릭하면 색칠하기처럼 색이 채워지는 원리로 아주 간단하게 작동하는 애플리케이션입니다. 이 어플리케이션 덕분에 저는 간단한 캐릭터를 만들었고, 이 캐릭터가 지나갈 땅 모양도 일직선으로 만들어 주었습니다. 아무래도 제 실력상으론 똑 닮은 캐릭터를 그려내는 것은 무리였기 때문에, 부탁한 친구가 문신이라는 디테일을 살려서, 팔 쪽에 사진 편집 어플인 PicsArt를 이용해서 문신 문양도 넣어 주었습니다.ㅋㅋ 캐릭터 자체는 정말 무난...

그렇게 캐릭터를 만든 후, 저는 워드를 이용해섴ㅋㅋㅋ (네, 마이크로소프트 워드요. 문서 작업하는 그거 맞습니다.) 배경으로 사용할 네모난 도형을 삽입하고, 그 사이즈에 맞추어 제가 만들어낸 캐릭터의 위치와 다리 모양을 바꿔가며 그룹화를 이용하여 여러 장의 이미지를 저장했습니다. 그 이미지들을, iMovie, 맥북의 기본 영상편집 애플리케이션이죠, 이 친구를 이용해서 영상으로 이어 붙였습니다. 저의 이 모든 과정을 제가 아주 아주 아주 짧은 영상으로 만들어 보았는데요, 마지막에 완성돼서 현재 친구가 사용하고 있는 영상도 나옵니다.

제가 영상편집도 진짜 초보라 진짜 많이 부족한 영상이지만 여기까지 봐주셨다면 정말 감사합니다. 정말 부끄럽네요. 이것도 역시 애플리케이션인 VLLO의 도움을 많이 받았네요 하핳 

 

언제 또다시 이런 기회가 닿아서 이런 작업(?)을 하게 될지 모르겠지만, 저는 도전했고, 시작했다는 데에 의미를 두려고 합니다!

이번 포스팅은 아무래도 친구 한글을 모르니 영어로도 아래에 적어보려 합니다.

Today's post is to introduce the Youtube intro video that i have created for my friend upon his request.

This was one of my small little challanges that I am trying to take in my everyday life haha. As my friend who requested has just started creating Youtube videos for his chanel, I, as a friend, was looking through his videos and saying that maybe his intro part of the video could be done better in the future though I honestly felt it was a very good quality for a beginner. Then he told me what he wanted actually for his intro video but he just did not know how exactly and his ideo for intro video brought me the idea on how it can roughly be done. This has led me to ask him, "May I try....?" haha 

 

Basically, he wanted a pixel character of him walking from left to right which is pretty simple and I guess this was reason why I could tell him that I would like to try to make one for him. After hearing his idea, I was thinking that I can make use of 'stop motion' method to do this video. I just needed to have two pixel character images of standing straight and spreading legs(to walk), place them at each walking stations and save all these images to combine them into a video.

 

However, the problem was... I did not know how to create pixel character HAHAHA. I have no knowledge on what I am supposed to do to create one. Hence, I was searching for help from Google and I found out that there is mobile application that helps with this drawing. I went to App store straight away and got this application called "PixelEdit" (it has longer name but I am not too sure about the exact full name) as shown in the below image.

 

 

When you open this application, it looks like the image on the right side with a lot of squares (pixels?). How this application works is very simple. You can press + or - button on the top left corner to increase or decrease the number of pixels before you start to draw to your preferred settings. You find the colour that you would like to use from the bottom left section and click one of the squares that you want that colour to be in and that is it! Perfect for beginner like me haha. Using this application, I have created what i needed, two images of the character with opened and closed legs and one straight line that would work as ground that the character willl be walking on in the video. As it was very hard for me to create a character that really looks like my friend with my skill level on this pixel art, I used another application called "PicsArt" to edit in a tattoo on the character's arm as my friend has them on his arms(I tried my best haha)

 

Then I have used MS Word (lol yes the one you use to write documents) to create a square shaped background (I used pink as he used pink background on his earlier videos) and placed the ground image on that background. After that, I placed the character at each walking spots and saved them as images using grouping function. These images then were ported to iMovie(the basic video editing application for Macbook) and combined into a video.

I actually have created very very very short video to summarize these steps and my final outcome with the help of another application called "VLLO".

I am also very new to video editing so it is not fantastic level of editing haha However, if you have read and watched until here, thank you very much for your support. 

 

Im not too sure if I will ever be going to be doing this kind of work again or even if i do, I would not know when will such opportunity will come again, but I will say it was really a meaningful challenge that I have taken successfully somewhat and that is all that matters:)
